Hardening The Grid

The Pacific Power Reps team is proud to represent companies and products that feature fire-hardening designs. In other words, most of the products we sell are designed to make electrical poles, towers, and equipment less likely to start a fire/catch on fire.

Such designs include:

• Weatherproof Construction & Material
• Post Construction Verification, etc.

So, why is this so important?

It is so crucial for the state of California to work on hardening the grid and making an impact on the prevention of heavy fire seasons and their consequences. In a New York Times article, Nadja Popovich writes, “An intense drought is gripping the American West. Extreme conditions are more widespread than at any point in at least 20 years, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the government’s official drought-tracking service. And the hottest months of summer are still to come” (How Severe Is the Western Drought? See For Yourself, 1).

The dry seasons and fires are rising every year and it’s so crucial to build, sell, and install utility equipment with that reality in mind. This is why PPReps works with companies that intentionally work to make the utility system resilient and safe from fires.
